Every good season starts with a clean slate.
Cleanup is preparation — the visit that lets everything else work. In spring, it wakes the lawn up and clears the way for feeding and seeding; in fall, it protects the turf from spending winter under a wet mat of leaves. Priced by the work in front of us, quoted online in about a minute.
Lawn Preparation & Raking
Winter leaves the lawn matted, littered and slow to wake up. We rake out the dead material and matted leaves, clear the winter debris, and blow the property clean — so air and light reach the crowns and the growing season starts on time. It's also the natural first visit before aeration, feeding or seeding.
Leaf & Yard Cleanup
Leaves left down over winter smother the turf underneath and invite the matted grey patches you find at snow melt. A thorough fall cleanup — lawn raked and blown clean, leaves collected — protects the turf so it comes through winter in good shape.
A visit charge for your area, plus $10.50 a bag. That's it.
Every visit carries a visit charge — the cost of getting a truck, equipment and crew to your property. The rest is $10.50 per yard-waste bag, with the bags, the raking and blowing, the bagging, and curbside staging for city pickup all included. One visit when most leaves are down, or two visits — the first at about half leaf-drop — for heavily treed properties. Two visits simply carry two visit charges.

Before and after.

Cleanup is what makes the rest of the season work.
A cleared lawn is nice to look at, but that's not really what you're buying. Matted leaves block the light and air the turf needs to wake up; debris left on the lawn becomes the damp mat where problems overwinter. Clearing it is what lets the feeding reach soil, the seed touch ground, and the lawn actually use the season.
That's why cleanups pair naturally with the rest of a visit — aeration, dethatching, the first feeding, or overseeding on the freshly cleared surface. One trip, one price, in the right order.

Common questions.
What does a cleanup actually include?
The lawn raked and blown clean — leaves, winter debris, dead material — and the property left tidy. Garden beds, walkways and the perimeter can be added as bed & perimeter cleanup, which covers the areas the lawn work itself doesn't touch.
When should I book a spring cleanup?
Once the snow is gone and the lawn is firm enough to work — walking and raking a soggy lawn does more harm than good. In a typical Ottawa spring that's April into May. Booking ahead matters; the season is short and the calendar fills.
When should the fall cleanup happen?
Depending on your trees, it's one visit or two: the first when about half the leaves are down, the second once most or all have dropped. Late October into November for most properties — done too early it needs repeating; left too late the snow beats us to it.
Do I need both cleanups every year?
Most properties genuinely benefit from both — they solve different problems at opposite ends of the season. But if your lot has few trees, the fall visit may be light or unnecessary, and we price by the work in front of us either way.
Can other work happen in the same visit?
That's the ideal sequence — cleanup is preparation, and its real value is what it enables. Aeration, dethatching, feeding or overseeding can follow in the same visit on a freshly cleared lawn, and the estimator lets you combine them into one price.
What does it cost?
The two seasons are priced differently, because the work is driven by different things. Spring Lawn Preparation & Raking is priced by property size — the online estimator gives you a range in about 60 seconds, with the service already selected. Fall leaf cleanup is priced right on this page: a visit charge for your area plus $10.50 per bag, with bags, labour and curbside staging all included. The table above shows the whole picture — no quote request needed to see your number.
How do I know how many bags my property fills?
Most homeowners already know from experience — it's the same number every fall, give or take the wind. If you're new to the property, tell us the lot size and tree cover and we'll estimate the bracket for you. And you can cap the work at your chosen bracket: we bag to that number and confirm with you before going past it.
